Alumni Panelist Bios
Liz completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in 2011, with an Hons B.A. in International Relations, Political Science and African Studies. After graduation, she began working for Free The Children, an international charity and educational partner. After one year as a Program Coordinator, Liz transitioned into the role of Manager of Executive Communications & Special Projects for Craig Kielburger, the organization’s co-founder. For two years, Liz travelled to cities across North America supporting Mr. Kielburger at keynote speeches, partnership meetings and We Day events, furthering the organization’s mission of empowering youth to be world changers. Last August, Liz was hired by the Toronto Public Library Foundation as Development Associate of Corporate Partnerships. In this role, she cultivates and stewards corporate partnerships in support of Toronto Public Library programs. Liz volunteers on the Executive Team for Young Diplomats of Canada as their Director of Strategy & Business Development, helping to implement the organization’s strategic vision and provide opportunities for Canadian companies to invest in Canada’s young leaders. In her spare time, Liz loves to run, bake, drink coffee, and watch House of Cards.
Rachel Anderson graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009. She majored in Political Science and Environmental Policy & Practice. While completing her undergraduate degree Rachel volunteered at the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada (a non-profit that was affiliated with U of T at the time). She also worked at several part-time jobs while earning her degree.
In May 2009 Rachel was hired as a summer intern in the Ontario Energy Board’s regulatory policy department which segued into a permanent position as a policy analyst. Almost six years later Rachel is still at the OEB and was recently promoted to policy advisor. Rachel is now working toward a Master of Law degree (at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University), specializing in energy and infrastructure
Vito graduated from the University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. He obtained his LL.B. at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law in 1991 and Osgoode Certificate in Construction Law in 2011. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1993. Prior to opening his own law firm in 1997, Mr. Scalisi was a litigation lawyer at Loopstra Nixon & McLeish in the Administrative Law and Advocacy Departments. His practice today encompasses a broad range of commercial-related litigation and construction law. He has acted as trial counsel in the Superior Court of Justice and appellate counsel before the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal of Ontario. He also regularly acts counsel in arbitrations, mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution where he has extensive experience in negotiating resolution of disputes.
